Welcome to the listing of classes currently available at Carroll Tech. Classes may be offered as Instructor led, or self-paced. Instructor led classes have a regularly scheduled chat session where you can log-on and discuss topics related to your class with your teacher and fellow students. Self-paced classes are available without the chat option for a period of 120 days from the date of registration. All classes are listed as Level 3 headings for easy navigation.
Beginner Series for JAWS Users
If you are an instructor of a student who needs to learn basic computer skills, but lack a step-by-step curriculum, this course is designed for you! Each of the 27 lessons consists of audio instruction and audio/visual demonstrations which your student can use under your supervision. Having completed this course, your student will have mastered the basic use of Microsoft Word, Outlook Express, and Internet Explorer, and will be able to perform common file management tasks.

Introduction to Excel with JAWS (Self-Paced)
This class will get you started using Excel to create and use spreadsheets. You will enter, edit and format data; perform sorts; and summarize your information through the use of formulas. You will also learn how to produce a visually-pleasing print copy. And finally you will be shown the tips and tricks that will enable you to use JAWS to access Excel more efficiently.

Intermediate Excel with JAWS (Self-Paced)
This self-paced class is the continuation of Introduction to Excel with JAWS. In it, you will increase your understanding of cell reference types, use comments and formatting to facilitate collaboration with others, ensure data integrity with validation tools, and solve problems through the use of formulas and analysis tools.

Windows for TVIs: Achieving Mouselessness
Did you know that many of the methods and commands used by Windows users who are blind would work even if there were no assistive technology involved? A solid understanding of the concepts and objects that make up the Windows operating system is necessary for being an effective user - and teacher - of mainstream and assistive technology for users with visual impairments. Achieving Mouselessness is designed for Teachers of the Visually Impaired who teach and support the use of computer skills.

Using Accessible Graphing Calculator
This self-paced class will teach you how to use the Accessible Graphing Calculator to perform simple and complex calculations and generate auditory graphs. Installing and configuring AGC will also be covered.

Using TGD Pro
If you need to produce braille graphics for your students, consider the use of Tactile Graphics Designer (TGD) Pro. In this class, you will learn how to install, set up, and use TGD Pro to create and emboss graphics.

Using The Duxbury Braille Translator (self-paced)
This self-paced class will teach you practically everything you ever wanted to know about Duxbury, but didn't know whom to ask. You'll start with installing and configuring Duxbury and creating simple documents. By the time you are finished, you will have mastered the advanced use of codes, styles, and templates, and gained the problem-solving skills that will enable you to tackle any transcription task that comes your way!
